Day 30: Portage la Prairie to Winnipeg

75km to Winnipeg + 25km through the city to reach our lovely hosts, Elaine and John Hoogland!
Total kms: 100km

We planned for a quick 'jaunt' into the city today but the winds had another idea. My Manitoba friend, Coral, was right about the strong head and cross winds that sweep through the prairies, and today we experienced it! It was a bit slow going, but we eventually arrived about 7:30pm to food, showers, and beds! What a treat...

Note: Winnipeg city water doesn't taste very good...almost undrinkable - and I don't think we are normally very picky!

Note: They are wrong about the mosquitos! Winnipeg is not near as bad as I expected....

Our lovely hosts in Portage: Mark Harrison and Barb Rhind-Harrison and their dog 'Mr. Marcus'.
Mark got up at 5:30 to bake us muffins for the road!

Rita - this one is for you! Heading into Winnipeg, Jennica spotted this one.
Winnipeg - One Great City... and about the most boring city sign we'd seen!
