Day 24: Besant to Moose Jaw to Regina

July 3, 2006

Km's Today: 111km

Highlights:
The Tunnels in Moose Jaw

Special Thanks to:
Leigh and his family for letting us stay at your house in Regina.

This morning we got going excited about exploring the tunnels of Moose Jaw. Since we weren't stopping there for the night, we decided to stop for a snack and lunch to check out the historic city. Downtown Moose Jaw was AWESOME!! It had tons of old buildings in good condition and the parks were gorgeous.

Taking the tour of the tunnels called "The Passage to Fortune". This tour illustrated the living conditions of the first chinese immigrants and the terrible conditions in which they lived and worked. Although not necessarily always pleasant, it is a true and sad part of our Canadian history.

Biking into Regina, the terrain started to flatten out a bit and low and behold, we could see Regina coming from 30km away! Even before a mileage sign, we could see Regina in the distance! So there's where all the prairie jokes come from.........

Arriving in Regina, we were treated to showers and a barbeque dinner from Jennica's friend Leigh. What a treat! After watching "Hoodwinked", we fell into a nice deep sleep (away from all the mosquitos)!
